June 11 - 1936 and 2020

We are doubly sad this year that June 11th not only represents the anniversary of Bob Howard's death but also the Howard Days that just won't be.

When Bob decided to end his time, he had no idea at the Legacy that would remain. We can be sad that he left us, but happy that he left us so much.

Howard Days in 2021 will happen on Friday and Saturday, June 11th and 12th. The Thursday before is always an "unofficial" day of celebration, so maybe because we're missing out this year, we could make Thursday an Official Howard Day?!

Something to think about while we plan ahead for next year. Hope y'all stay healthy and we'll see you in Cross Plains before you know it!

Howard Days Help!

Well, this should have been the week we were all gathering in Cross Plains, Texas, to celebrate the Life and Work of Robert E. Howard. But 2020 is certainly not your typical year.

While the Robert E. Howard fan community is pretty bummed that Howard Days 2020 has been cancelled, let's not forget that Project Pride of Cross Plains still needs our help.

Howard Days is not only The Best Two Days in Howard Fandom, but is also the big yearly fund-raiser for Project Pride to maintain the house and grounds of the Robert E. Howard Museum.
No HD this year means zero donations for upkeep on the Museum, which is a year-long endeavor.

So, we're hoping you can find a few pazoors in your purse to send along to the fine folks at Project Pride to make up for not having our "Howard Family Reunion" this year. Please donate what you can to their Pay Pal account at ProjPride@yahoo.com or send a check to Project Pride, POB 534, Cross Plains, TX 76443.

Anything you can give will be sincerely appreciated and you will know that you are involved with continuing the Legacy of Robert E. Howard.

We hope to see y'all in 2021 on June 11 and 12. Roy Thomas has agreed to come back as GOH and we'll have our full slate of REH activities for all to enjoy.

And thanks goes to Dennis McHaney for putting this bee in our bonnet!

HOWARD DAYS 2020 IS CANCELED

We are saddened to report that, due to the ongoing novel-coronavirus pandemic, and after consulting with our friends in Cross Plains, we have decided that we will have to cancel Robert E. Howard Days, scheduled for June 12-13.

The uncertainty of the current timelines for the outbreak, the potential risks involved in bringing people from all over the US and other countries, from places with varying rates of infection, to a very small town with limited health care resources, and the need to make a decision now so everyone can adjust their plans, have led the Board of the Robert E. Howard Foundation and our partners at Project Pride to this extremely difficult decision. Ultimately, we had to come down on the side of everyone’s safety.

We will look now toward next year, when we hope that Roy Thomas will join us as Guest of Honor, and we will all get to experience again the Best Weekend in Howard Fandom.

Howard Days is Coming!

Howard Days 2020 will be held June 12th & 13th at the Robert E. Howard House & Museum in Cross Plains, Texas, and we certainly hope you'll be able to join us!

This year's theme is "Celebrating 50 Years of REH in the Comics" and we are proud to have Roy Thomas as our Guest of Honor. Roy is the person most immediately involved with putting Howard's Conan the Cimmerian into the world of comic books and we are overjoyed that he will be coming to Cross Plains to help us celebrate
.

We are in the process now of developing the panel and event programming for this year, but rest assured all the "regular" events are taking place. We have tours galore: of the REH Museum, the house grounds and a bus tour around Cross Plains; there's a Celebration Banquet and Silent Auction of REH items on Friday night, a hot dog lunch and honest-to-Texas chuck wagon BBQ, a souvenir postal cancellation, informative and educational panels, viewings of original REH typescripts at the Cross Plains Public Library, a well-stocked Gift Shop and a small dealer's area on the grounds.

Plus, there are always extemporaneous events happening among the gathering of Howard fans, scholars and enthusiasts that are exclusive to our Howard Days event.
And perhaps best of all, you'll be in the company of fellow Howard enthusiasts where the conversation and fellowship runs from morning until late night.

It's for a reason we call it "The Best Two Days in Howard Fandom"! Y'all come!

Stay tuned to this page and our Facebook page for all the information you'll need to make your trip to Howard Days a memorable one.
