2024 HOWARD DAYS SCHEDULE

THURSDAY JUNE 6
2-4 pm: The Robert E. Howard House and Museum will be open, the Gift Shop will be open, but there will be no docents on duty. The dedication ceremony of the installation of Howard's original writing table will be at 2 pm. The Pavilion will be open and available all day until late night on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
FRIDAY JUNE 7
8:30 am until gone: Coffee & donuts at the Pavilion, compliments of Project Pride.
9 am - 4 pm: Robert E. Howard House Museum & Grounds open to the public. The adjacent Alla Ray Morris Pavilion will be open all day until late night.
9 am - 4 pm: REH Postal Cancellation Souvenir - Cross Plain Post Office. FRIDAY ONLY.
9 am - 10:45: BUS TOUR of Cross Plains & Surrounding Areas. Meet in Pavilion. FRIDAY ONLY.
10:30 am - 12 Noon: Cross Plains Review Office open for informal tours. Cross Plains souvenirs.
10 am - 4 pm: REH Foundation Press and Dealers Area open on grounds surrounding REH Museum.
10 am - 4 pm: Cross Plains Public Library open. Original Robert E. Howard typescripts, original Weird Tales/REH pulp magazines and other Howard items on display. Conan gaming with Jeb Boyt.
11 am - 12 Noon: PANEL: REH in 1934. Jeff Shanks, Patrice Louinet, Charles Hoffman and others discuss Howard's writing, relationships and interests from 90 years ago. AT CROSS PLAINS METHODIST CHURCH.
12 Noon: HOT DOG LUNCH at the Pavilion, hosted by Project Pride. Donations welcomed!
1:30 - 2:30 pm: PANEL: Travels with Bob, with Guest of Honor Rob Roehm. Rob will talk about visiting every place to which Bob Howard traveled. AT CROSS PLAINS METHODIST CHURCH.
2:30 - 4:00 pm: THE GLENN LORD SYMPOSIUM: Bob Howard as a Southwestern Writer. Moderated by Jeff Shanks. Presenters: Mark Finn, Charles Hoffman, Tracy Henley, Ralph Norris. AT CROSS PLAINS METHODIST CHURCH.
Immediately following: Presentation of the 2024 Robert E, Howard Foundation Awards.
Please check in and get your dinner ticket at the Community Center, starting at 5 pm. You MUST have your ticket to have a seat at a table. First 150 registrations in by May 24 will be guaranteed a seat.
5:00 - 6:15 pm: Silent Auction items available for viewing and bidding at the American Legion building (adjacent to the Community Center, 108 N. Beech St. - 5 blocks east of Bank on 1st St.) Auction site will be closed during dinner & program.
6:30 pm: Robert E. Howard Celebration Banquet & Silent Auction at the Community Center. Guest of Honor speaker: Rob Roehm.
The Silent Auction will reopen for a short period after the program ends.
After the Banquet: Fists at the Pavilion with Mark Finn, Jeff, Shanks, Chris Gruber and Patrice Louinet. We've moved our boxing panel to Howard's back yard this year for readings and boxing chat about Howard's most prolific writings.
And as always, there is Howard Fellowship in the Pavilion.
SATURDAY JUNE 8
10 am - 4 pm: SUMMER BASH Festival, sponsored by the Cross Plains Chamber of Commerce, at Treadway Park (1 block west of the Howard Museum).
9 am - 4 pm: Robert E. Howard House Museum & Grounds open to the public. The adjacent Alla Ray Morris Pavilion will be open all day until late night.
9 am - 10:30 am: Cross Plains Downtown Walking Tour. Meet at the Ice House (Reed Construction) on Main Street and walk in the steps of Bob Howard. Hosted by Jack Baum + others.
10 am - 3 pm: Cross Plains Public Library open. Original Robert E. Howard typescripts, original Weird Tales/REH pulp magazines and other Howard items on display. Conan gaming with Jeb Boyt.
10 am - 4 pm: REH Foundation Press and Dealers Area open on grounds surrounding REH Museum.
11 am - 12 Noon: PANEL: REH in Pop Culture. Listen to a discussion of the strong REH influence today on comics, board/RPG/video games, websites & Facebook pages, podcasts, electronic & real publishing books, tv & movies. Jeff Shanks, Jim Zub, John C. Hocking, Paul Herman. AT CROSS PLAINS METHODIST CHURCH.
LUNCH BREAK
1:30 - 2:30 pm: PANEL: Novalyne Price & Her Influence on REH: A discussion of her life and her impact on REH. Bobby Derie, Patrice Louinet, Aurelia Wilder, Bill Cavalier. AT CROSS PLAINS METHODICT CHURCH.
2:30 - 3:30 pm: PANEL: Heroic & Hilarious: 1934 found REH displaying his diverse talent with both El Borak and Breckinridge Elkins. Mark, Finn, Howard Andrew Jones and others discuss. AT CROSS PLAINS METHODIST CHURCH.
4 pm: Tour of REH House Grounds: Paul Herman, Bill Cavalier and Jeff Shanks will lead a tour around the REH House, complete with photos showing REH at home.
5 pm: Sunset Bar-B-Que at the Pavilion. Enjoy a BBQ dinner provided by Project Pride and the Cross Plains Library, compliments of Jack & Barbara Baum.
After the Bar-B-Que: Porchlight Poetry. An open mic REH Poetry Reading, done from the front porch of the House. Interspaced throughout this event will be readings of Howard's masterpiece poem, "Cimmeria", in as many as 9 different languages. Hosted by Aurelia Wilder.
ONGOING DURING THE DAY & EVENING: IN & AROUND THE PAVILION: Informal activities, extemporaneous/spontaneous events and impromptu discussions, Conan bean-bag games, podcasts, interviews, readings, signings, etc. in an enjoyable family reunion atmosphere. Adult beverages are allowed after hours, but please keep them out of the large common cooler.
There are NO DEALERS OR Pop Up PANELS ALLOWED UNDER THE PAVILION ROOF, which is reserved for Howard Fellowship.
Regarding Dealer's Tables: There are tables available for dealers of REH related merchandise for $25.00 for the two days, payable in advance or on-site in the Gift Shop.
